DALLAS / FT WORTH / N TEXAS LIVE BLUES 1/14/16 THRU 1/20/16

This week we said a sudden and sad goodbye to David Bowie. He lived his life as an ever evolving work of art, and managed to turn own death into art as well with the poignant timing of the release of his album "Blackstar", it is said, as a last gift to his fans. I'm impressed by that level of commitment to his work and his fans. He may not have been a Blues guy, but he knew a great Blues guitarist when he heard one. And he certainly helped push SRV's career to a higher level. Which fueled the Blues resurgence of the 80's. If you don't know that story, you can read about it here.

 The stars indeed look very different today.

Don’t forget this is going on: Art Exhibit “8X10 4 365: Works By James Hinkle 2015” – Arts 5^th Avenue – 1628 5^th Avenue, Ft Worth 76104  www.artsfifthavenue.org On Display by appointment through January 31. This exhibits includes paintings of Jim Suhler, Buddy Whittingon, Doyle Bramhall, Texas Slim, Jimmie and Stevie Ray Vaughn, Kevin Schermerhorn, Marcia Ball, Miss Marcy, Andrea Dawson and ME!! (I’m so honored by that.)

LOOKING AHEAD: in anticipation of the upcoming 17th Annual KNON Bluesfest, next week, January 21st, my live-and-always-lively in studio guest will be Miss Marcy and on the 28th, I'll be joined in the studio by the phenomenal Buddy Whittington!! Mark your calendar and be sure to tune in!

Thursday, January 14 - I'm off tonight because I'll be attending one of the two annual mandatory KNON pledge drive meetings. These meetings are very interesting in that you would NEVER get all these different kinds of people in one room at once any other time. It's always a beautiful reminder to me of the true diversity KNON offers!
