Go out and ring in the New Year with some great live Blues. But DO NOT drink and drive – it’s just not worth the risk, whether that be a ticket or arrest. Or worse, injury or death of yourself and/or someone else. 

Here’s a little sobering info for you: January 1 is the second-worst day of the year for deaths in motor vehicle crashes. Musicians call New Year's Eve Amateur Night because it's the night people who don't go out any other night of the year do go, and they aren't great about knowing their limits. (The 2^nd is 4^th of July. See the analysis by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.) Almost two-thirds of the deaths recorded on that date between 2010 and 2014 involved an intoxicated driver, cyclist or pedestrian.

New Year's Eve weekend is a no-refusal weekend, meaning that if DPD pull you over and you refuse a breathalyzer, officers can quickly get a warrant to draw blood.

There are cabs and a designated driver friend. Also ride-share programs like LYFT and UBER. (Download the application in advance onto your phone if you plan to use one of these and make sure your phone is charged up before you go out.)
