If you're my age (50) give or take 5 years either side, and lived in Dallas in the 80's, these guys probably look familiar. Yes, the Tango Frogs! The 6 Frogs lived on the roof of Shannon Wynne's Tango club on Lower Greenville Avenue (1827 to be exact). (Being the young Rock-N-Roller I was, I was at Tango many a night). The Tango building was torn down years ago and replaced with a Taco Cabana. 3 of the Frogs found a home at the Chuy's restaurant in Nashville. The other 3 have been living at the Carls' Corner Truckstop on I35. But no more - those 3 are coming home!!! Taco Cabana has purchased those three, and next Thursday, June 26th, they will be on the ground for photo ops with one of those Dallas BIG signs and a 80's themed "Throwback Thursday" party. In the middle of the night, a crane will come hoist them to the roof. When the sun rises June 27th, they will be home at 1827 Greenville Avenue once more with their creator, Daddy-O Wade, in attendance.
For 5 years or so, I lived across the street at 1902 1/2 Greenville and used to gaze out the windows and think how cool it would have been to see the Frogs right across the street. Now, that's going to be a reality!!! Welcome home guys!!
